Instructions

Step 1

Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + alt="Image" + Delete to launch the Task Manager. In versions of Windows XP and earlier, the application window appears on the screen immediately after pressing this combination, and in recent releases there is another intermediate menu in which you need to select the line "Start Task Manager". You can do without the intermediate menu if you use the combination Ctrl + Shift + Esc.

Step 2

Another easy way is to use the item in the Windows taskbar context menu. Open it by right-clicking on the free space on this panel and select the line "Start Task Manager" or simply "Task Manager" (depending on the OS version).

Step 3

Another way is to use the program launch dialog. Open the main menu of the operating system by clicking on the "Start" button and select the "Run" command in it. In the latest versions of the OS with default settings, it is not displayed in the menu, but can still be replaced by pressing the Win + R key combination. In the only field of the form called in this way, enter taskmgr and click on the OK button.

Step 4

In recent versions of Windows, you can use the built-in search engine instead of the program launch dialog. Press the Win button on the keyboard and in the search query field of the main menu enter the same name of the executable file without the extension - taskmgr. There will be only one row in the search results table, so just press Enter to launch Task Manager.

Step 5

This search engine can be used in another way - press the Win key and type "percent". The second line in the list of results will be the link "View running processes in the task manager" - select it, and the manager window will open on the "Processes" tab.

Step 6

If for any reason you have to open the Task Manager from the CLI, use the above file name taskmgr. You do not need to type in either the extension or the full path to invoke this utility.
