Task Manager is a system utility for Windows operating systems. The Task Manager window has several tabs. They display running applications, processes, as well as computer resources used by processes.

Step 1
The task manager is usually required in order to terminate a frozen process or to look at the distribution of resources among the processes. In addition, you can graphically observe the activity of the network connection, if it is working. There are several methods to start the Task Manager.
Step 2
The most famous is the key combination “Ctrl + Alt + Del”. This method is most common in the Windows XP operating system. After pressing these keys at the same time, the Task Manager window will appear on the desktop. After starting, a green indicator will appear in the system tray next to the clock. When you hover the mouse cursor over it, a menu pops up, which displays the degree of CPU utilization in percent.
Step 3
In Windows 7 and Vista, pressing “Ctrl + Alt + Del” will bring up a screen with several options to choose from. Among them, you can choose "Task Manager". After clicking, the system will show the desktop again and launch the task manager. For Windows 7 / Vista there is a more convenient way: the key combination “Ctrl + Shift + Esc”. When you press it, bypassing the transition menus, the task manager opens. This method is also available in other versions of Windows.
Step 4
The third method is implemented through the standard "Run" utility. Go to the address: "Start" -> "All Programs" -> "Accessories" -> "Run". Or start it by pressing the "Win + R" key combination. In the window that opens, write "taskmgr" in the input line and press the "Enter" key. After clicking, the operating system will launch the task manager.
Step 5
If none of the above methods work, it may be a consequence of virus activity. In this case, first scan your system completely with an antivirus program. Then do the following: press "Win + R", in the "Open" field enter "gpedit.msc" and press "Enter". The "Group Policy" dialog box will open, navigate to: "Group Policy" -> "Local Computer Policy" -> "User Configuration" -> "Administrative Templates" -> "System" -> "Ctrl + Alt + Del Capabilities". On the right side of the Ctrl + Alt + Del Opportunities window, double-click the "Delete Task Manager" line (Default state - Not set). Call the "Properties" window, click "Remove Task Manager". Change the switch "Enabled" to "Disabled", then click "Apply" and "OK".
