Almost every user knows that the hard disk is named so for a reason. It is based on several plates that are located on the spindle. This spindle spins the discs at a certain speed so that the needle can read the information it needs. The speed of each hard drive is different, the true speed of the hard drive can only be found with the help of special programs.
Necessary
Disk Speed software
Instructions
Step 1
From the name of the program, you can understand what it is intended for. The program is so low that the speed of its download from the Internet will take only a few seconds, despite the bandwidth of your connection. This simple application will allow you to find out the minimum and maximum read speed, hard drive size, file system type, number of sectors, and cluster size.
Step 2
Because the program does not require installation, unpack it and run it by double-clicking the left mouse button on the Disk Speed.exe file. In the main window of the program, click on the Drive to Test drop-down list and select any hard disk partition. As a rule, section "C" is tested first, because it is systemic.
Step 3
Tabs will be located below the drop-down list, go to the Test Resluts tab and click the Begin Test button to start testing the selected section. What should be done in order for the program to test the disk as quickly as possible and give the most accurate results? It is necessary to close all programs that in any way can interact with the hard disk. It is also necessary to completely stop working at the computer during the test.
Step 4
At the end of testing, the results in brief will be displayed in the lower window of the Results in brief program. For a detailed display of the test results, click the Compare Results button. When you click on this button, you will be prompted to connect to the Internet. Disk Speed will connect to the server, on the page of which all the results of this test will be stated.
Step 5
Regardless of what kind of report you are looking at, short or minimal, the hard drive speed will be displayed in the Drive Speed field. On the program's website, you can compare these figures with the reference values of hard drives that also passed this test.
