By default, sheet shortcuts for the current workbook in the Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheet editor are displayed at the bottom-left edge of the window. If they are not there, there may be several reasons - from purely technical ones to those related to the increased confidentiality of the data contained in this book. Reverting the display of sheet labels is usually not difficult - it can take no more than five clicks.

Instructions

Step 1

If there are no tabs for the sheets of an open workbook at all, check the window settings that may have been accidentally changed by the user. For example, a horizontal scroll bar could be expanded to its limit, covering all existing shortcuts. In this case, hover the cursor over its left border and drag it to the right at a sufficient distance to display the shortcuts. Or, the workbook window could have been moved in the main Excel window so that the bottom of the window with its shortcuts was not visible. This problem can be solved simply by clicking on the "Expand" icon in the upper right corner of the window.

Step 2

In addition, the absence of shortcuts may be the result of an appropriate setting in Excel - their display can simply be disabled by the user. To change this setting, open the main editor menu - depending on the version you are using, click on the Office or File button. From the menu, select Options (Excel 2010) or click the Excel Options button at the bottom right (Excel 2007).

Step 3

In both versions of the editor, select the "Advanced" section in the list of settings and scroll down to the "Options for the next book" section. Check the box next to "Show sheet tabs" and click OK.

Step 4

If one or more sheet shortcuts are hidden by the corresponding Excel command, open the Format drop-down list from the Cells group of commands on the Home tab. In the "Visibility" section, go to the "Hide or Show" section and select the "Show Sheet" item. The editor will show a separate window with a list of all the sheets it covers from prying eyes. This window can be opened in another way - right-click any of the shortcuts and select "Show" from the pop-up context menu.

Step 5

Click on the line of the list with the desired sheet and click OK. If you need to display several of these book elements, repeat the operation for each of them.
