To quickly create a pleasant website design, webmasters use templates copied from the Internet. Some templates require editing, for example, changing the background or header of the site. The Wordpress platform allows you to complete these steps, spending a minimum of time.
Necessary
- Software:
- - Total Commander:
- - Notepad ++.
Instructions
Step 1
This platform suits many webmasters also by the fact that a large number of templates can be found in the public domain, and this speaks of the minimum costs for starting a site from scratch. But not everything is as good as we would like - the templates are standard and will not be the ultimate dream of every person. Therefore, they have to be edited using special programs.
Step 2
To install a template on your site, you need to upload it through the administrative panel ("Appearance" or "Design" tab). After that, you can start editing it using the web interface or special applications. In the first case, you need to open the "Editor" tab in the administrative panel. In the second case, your template is not copied to the site, but edited through an advanced text editor Notepad ++.
Step 3
Among all the files inside the directory with templates, you should refer to the following php and css files: header.php (site header), single.php (article or post itself), page.php, index.php (main page), search.php (site search form). Now you need to start the Total Commander program, open the required directory on one of the panels and open the required file.
Step 4
If you do not know which file you need to edit, copy the item name to the clipboard and search among the files using Total Commander. For example, inside the text box is the phrase Search It, and you wanted to change it to the word "Search". Copy this phrase, go to Total Commander and launch the search form by pressing alt="Image" + F7.
Step 5
Navigate to the Search Words box and enter your search phrase. Press Enter to run the operation and view the search results. Select the file you want, double click on it to open it. Find Search It and replace it with "Search". Don't forget to save your changes by pressing Ctrl + S keyboard shortcut.
Step 6
It remains to copy the changed files to your server with the site and replace them. Values in other files are replaced in the same way.
