It happens that files and folders that have become unnecessary and therefore deleted are suddenly needed. And sometimes the necessary data is sent to the trash by mistake or as a result of careless manipulations in the graphical interface of the system. In most cases, you can get deleted files back from the recycle bin without problems.

Instructions

Step 1

Find the "Trash" shortcut on your desktop. If it is absent, then in Windows XP you can get access to the Recycle Bin through Explorer - it must be opened by double-clicking on the "My Computer" icon or by pressing the hot-keys WIN + E (Russian letter "U"). Find the Recycle Bin in Explorer in the "Folders" list in the left pane and click.

Step 2

Restore the display of the "Trash" shortcut on the desktop, if there is no other convenient enough way to access this element of the operating system. When using Windows Vista and Windows 7, for this you need to open the main menu on the "Start" button and click "Control Panel". In the panel, click the Appearance and Personalization link, then Personalization and select the Change Desktop Icons task. Check the box next to the "Trash" item and click the "OK" button.

Step 3

Double-click the trash can and find the folder you want to restore in the list. It may not be there for several reasons. For example, if a folder was deleted by pressing the SHIFT + Delete key combination, that is, without sending it to the trash. Another reason is that the total volume of folders with files deleted at the same time exceeded the limit allocated in the operating system settings for the contents of the recycle bin. Third, files deleted later pushed the desired folder out of the list of objects stored in case of possible recovery. If the lost catalog is not in the recycle bin, then restoring it in many cases is still possible, but it will require the use of specialized software.

Step 4

Right-click the folder to be returned from the trash and select "Restore" from the pop-up context menu. The operating system will re-place the directory, along with all its contents, to the original storage location on your computer.
