The desktop appears in front of the user every time the computer is turned on, and if you have to work with different applications, then an uncountable number of times during each working day. Therefore, it is quite natural to want to set as a background picture something that best suits personal tastes. This desire is all the more natural if we are talking not about a work computer, but about a home computer.
Instructions
Step 1
In the latest Windows operating systems - 7 and Vista - control elements for changing the appearance of the system's graphical interface are collected in a single Control Panel applet called Personalization. You can open this applet through the desktop context menu - right-click the background image to make it appear on the screen. The required item in the menu is named “Personalization”.
Step 2
To see a list of available images that can be made a background image with one click using this applet, click on the icon labeled "Desktop Background" at the bottom of the applet window. You can get to this list in another way - open the main menu and type the word "background". The built-in search engine will show a list of links, among which there will be the desired one - "Change the desktop background".
Step 3
To replace the current background image with any picture from the table, select it and then click the "Save Changes" button. If you want to set your own picture that is not in this table, click the "Browse" button, find the folder in which it is stored, and click OK. Then click the icon that appears in the list and click "Save Changes".
Step 4
There is also a faster way, which uses the function built into the "Explorer". Having opened the folder with the desired picture in the file manager, right-click the file and select the item "Set as desktop background" in the context menu.
Step 5
Most often, new "wallpapers" get into the computer from the Internet, and in this case, you can use a similar function built into the browser. It is available in Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Opera - right-clicking on an image loaded into a tab of the Internet browser brings up a context menu, one of the items of which offers to set the image as a background image. In these browsers, only the wording of the required item is different - "Set as desktop background", "As desktop image", "Set as background image".
