It is usually necessary to return, or restore, the system registry of Windows OS after the viral effect of some malicious programs. Fortunately, this task can well be solved by the standard means of the system itself and does not require the involvement of additional software.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button, and go to the "Run" dialog in order to restore access to the registry entries. Type gpedit.msc in the "Open" line and confirm the launch of the Group Policy Editor utility by clicking OK.
Step 2
Expand the User Configuration link and go to the Administrative Templates section. Expand the System node and find the Make Registry Editing Tools Unavailable option. Call the context menu of the found policy by clicking the right mouse button and select the "Properties" item. Apply the checkbox in the "Disabled" line and click the "Apply" button. Confirm saving of the changes made by clicking OK.
Step 3
If you have an alternative registry editor installed, start it and expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem branch. Find a string parameter named DiasbleRegistryTools and change its value to 0.
Step 4
Another option for performing the same action is to create a special.bat file containing reg.exe add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem / v DisableregistryTools / t REG_DWORD / d 0 / f pause. Run the created file and wait for a message about opening the registry editor utility in the console.
Step 5
Use an alternative method to get the registry back. to do this, start the Notepad application and create a new document. Type Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 on the first line and enter [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem] on the second. End the document with a third line containing "DisableRegistryTools" = dword: 00000000 and save your changes. Change the extension of the generated file to.reg and run the file.
