You can open access to hard disks, printers, files and folders of the computer to other users of the local network by opening network access to the named resources. You will also need to set user rights for each of them.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "My Computer" item to perform the operation of allowing access to disk resources of the computer to other users of the local network.
Step 2
Call the service menu of the required disk by right-clicking on its icon and select "Properties".
Step 3
Go to the "Access" tab in the "Properties: local drive" window that opens and select "If you want to open access to the root folder of the drive, click here."
Step 4
Apply the checkbox to the "Share this folder" box in the "Network Sharing and Security" section and specify the network name of your drive that appears in the "My Network Places" folder in the "Share" box.
Step 5
Check the box next to "Allow files to be modified over the network" to allow full access to your drive. At the same time, other users will be able to create, delete, move and rename file objects on the selected disk.
Step 6
Uncheck the box next to "Allow files to be modified over the network" to enable read-only access to the selected drive.
Step 7
Click OK to apply your changes. The drive to which access has been granted will appear in the My Computer folder as an open palm icon.
Step 8
Select one of the drives on your computer and create a folder with any name that will be allowed access from the local network.
Step 9
Call the context menu of the created folder by clicking the right mouse button and go to the "Properties" item.
Step 10
Click the Sharing tab and apply the checkbox to the Share this folder box in the Network Sharing section.
Step 11
Enter your chosen folder name in the "Network Share" field. The name can be arbitrary, local and network folder names can be different.
Step 12
Use the checkbox next to "Allow files to be modified over the network" to grant full access to the selected folder.
Step 13
Uncheck the box next to "Allow changing files over the network" to set the mode to "read-only".
Step 14
Click OK to confirm the command.
