Users of personal computers are often faced with a black screen while working. It occurs for various reasons, for example, when there are hardware problems or problems inside any applications.

Step 1
Make sure the video card is properly seated on the computer's motherboard. Also check if the monitor is securely connected by checking the connectors on the system unit and the device itself. If the problem is with the video card or monitor, most likely, when you turn on the computer, you will hear the familiar system boot sounds, but the display will be blank.
Step 2
Install the latest drivers for your monitor and video card. If they are absent, you may observe a complete absence of the image, as well as a too blurry or dark picture. Also try adjusting the monitor image using the function keys on the front of the monitor. The brightness and contrast settings may be out of order, causing the image on the monitor to be too dark.
Step 3
If a dark screen occurs when you launch an application, such as a computer game, it may not meet your system requirements and freezes at startup. Try pressing the Windows key or the Ctrl + Alt + Del combination to terminate the program that caused the system freeze, or click on the Reset button located on the system unit.
Step 4
A black screen can also appear as an acceptable feature of the system in certain cases. For example, while installing the drivers for the video adapter, the screen may go black for a while. The reason for this is the auto-tuning of the system and the setting of the corresponding video parameters. After a while, the image on the monitor reappears. Also, some computer games do not have a loading screen, as a result of which, after launching them, the user may see a black screen for several minutes. Then the image appears, and the game itself begins.
