Installing drivers in the Windows operating system (OS) is used to configure hardware support, its correct operation, and without them, the functioning of many computer devices is impossible. Drivers are installed in three ways: using automatic installation, placing system files in the Windows directory, and installing special software.
Instructions
Step 1
Most modern device drivers are supplied on disks and can be downloaded from the Internet. If you are installing any new hardware on your computer, insert the disc into your computer's drive and run the installer. If the data carrier is missing, go to the official website of your device manufacturer in the technical support section and download the driver installer files, and then run them on your computer. Following the instructions of the installer, you will set up the hardware connected to the computer.
Step 2
If your device does not come with pre-built self-extracting driver installers, use the Windows Device Manager. To do this, click on the "Start" button, and then right-click on the line "Computer" - "Properties". In the window that appears, select "Task Manager" and wait for the list of devices installed on the computer to load.
Step 3
Select a device that is not detected on your system. Then right-click on the corresponding line and select "Update driver" - "Select drivers from the folder manually". Specify the path to the directory where the downloaded files are located. If the operation was done correctly, the equipment you need will be installed.
Step 4
To get a list of devices not installed on your system, you can use specialized utilities. Install the driver manager software for your computer. Among such programs, DriverPack Solution can be noted. Run the utility and click on the scan hardware button. If the installed devices are supported by the program, select the appropriate menu item to install the hardware drivers. The program will automatically download the required packages and install them.
