Video footage captured and recorded on videotapes loses its quality over time, and there may well be recordings and video materials that we would like to keep longer. Now, in the era of digital technologies and information carriers, it is possible to digitize old recordings and burn them to CD or DVD discs. While there are usually no problems with writing to discs, the situation with digitizing is somewhat more complicated.
Necessary
- Computer;
- video capture card;
- a set of cables and a VCR from which a video tape will be read
Instructions
Step 1
Open the cover of the system unit by unscrewing the retaining screws. Install the video capture card into the motherboard and turn on the computer. Then insert the disc with the drivers and special video recording software into the optical disc drive. Follow the instructions of the "Installation Wizard". Connect the set of cables between the VCR and the capture card. Then turn on the VCR and insert the video cassette into it.
Step 2
Then you need to run the video recorder on your computer. To do this, turn on the VCR for playback, and in the program start the recording process. After the end of the section you wanted to record, stop recording in the recording software and the VCR. After completing the recording, remove the video capture card from the motherboard and close the lid of the system unit.
Step 3
This completes the recording process. After that, you can view the recorded fragment, edit, reformat, burn it to CD or DVD, etc.
