Java applets are cross-platform programs that can be run either separately from the Java interpreter or as part of web pages. In most browsers, including Opera, the execution of such applets is disabled.
Instructions
Step 1
Don't confuse Java applets with Java scripts. Scripts are pieces of code written in the Java language and executed directly by the browser. Applets are pre-translated into cross-platform intermediate code and executed by the plugin. In terms of speed of execution, applets occupy an intermediate position between scripts and programs in machine codes.
Step 2
Make sure the Java plugin is installed on your computer. To do this, from another browser in which the Java plugin is guaranteed to be enabled, go to the following page:
java.com/ru/download/installed.jsp
Click the Check Java Version button.
Step 3
If it turns out that the plugin is missing or outdated, download it from the following page:
java.com/ru/download/manual.jsp?locale=ru
There are variants of this plug-in for various operating systems, including Linux and Windows of the most common versions. The installation method depends on the OS you are using.
Step 4
Launch the Opera browser and open its settings panel. To do this, in older versions of the browser, select the menu item "Tools" - "Settings", and in newer versions - "Settings" - "General settings".
Step 5
Click the "Advanced" tab, and then select "Content" from the list that appears on the left.
Step 6
Check the box next to Enable Java. Do not pay attention to the checkbox "Enable plugins" - it is designed to control other plugins, for example, Flash. Click OK.
Step 7
The Opera browser allows you to keep the Java plugin enabled or disabled for all sites, except for those for which otherwise. To configure settings for a specific site, first go to it, and then use the right mouse button to call the context menu. Select the "Site Settings" item.
Step 8
In the window that opens, select the "Content" tab. Check or uncheck Enable Java, and then click OK.
