In Windows series operating systems, the automatic update download mode is set by default. However, not all users blindly trust the changes they receive. After all, each modification of the system is a risk, the danger of disabling it.
Necessary
Windows Vista OS, Internet access, administrator rights
Instructions
Step 1
Operating system updates are intended to correct errors made in the major version and previous updates. However, no loading of a third-party program (even a "native" modification) guarantees the absence of a weak point. Therefore, downloading the update is at the discretion of the user himself, who has access to certain settings for this purpose.
Step 2
Run Windows Update, which is called through the Control Panel. Updates installation is managed in the Settings settings section. Select the appropriate supervised update download mode. There are several such modes.
Step 3
"Download updates, but decisions about installation are made by me" - Windows systematically downloads updates, but notifies the user before downloading. You yourself decide to download all or selective modifications and give the system the appropriate commands.
Step 4
"Look for updates, but decisions about installation are made by me" - the system finds updates, but you yourself choose and download the necessary changes. In this mode, you are in complete control of the process.
Step 5
"Do not check for updates" - this mode is not recommended by the system, since the update may contain new drivers, without which you will not be able to work with new programs.
Step 6
You can switch the system completely to manual update management, while you will independently search for and download them from the Internet. To do this, launch Windows Update and click the Check for Updates button.
