In the Windows operating system, all settings, files, and environment configurations for a specific user are located in the user profile. This profile can get corrupted and not start at all. In this case, Windows will give one of several errors. Now let's look at two ways to restore a profile. For both, you need to take into account that the actions will need administrator rights.
Instructions
Step 1
First, back up all your user profile data. To do this, open the "Documents and Settings" folder and copy your profile (the folder with the name of your account) to some safe place. When everything is done, you can proceed to recovery.
Step 2
Windows has a great utility called System Restore. But for this utility to work, a part of the memory must be reserved in the system (properties of "My Computer" - "System Restore" - select the required hard disk, then on "Parameters" - then put a tick on "Enable recovery" and specify the desired percentage of memory) …
Performing a restore will return the system settings to a certain number on all user profiles.
Step 3
To restore: click on Start, then "All Programs", Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. The program window will open. If you still haven't changed your mind, then click on Restore the system to an earlier state, then click on "Next".
Select the number to which you want to restore the OS. Click next. The recovery process will begin. When the computer restarts, try logging into your profile. If it worked out, then it's good, if not, read on.
Step 4
This method can be called "cloning an old account to a new one." The method is easy, but not in all cases it helps. First, create a new account with administrator rights (Control Panel, Accounts, Create New). When you create a new profile, click the Start button, click the Log Out button. When the Login window appears, you can select or enter a new name for the entry.
Step 5
After the whole process, log out again and log into it under your work profile.
Then call the properties of My Computer, on the tab, additionally click on the settings next to the User Profiles section. Select the account you want to copy. Click "Copy to folder" (to the profile that you created). Click browse and point to the profile folder in Documents and Settings. Click OK.
After that, try to log into the copied account, everything should work for you.
