The protection of personal information is always a high priority. No one wants other people to have access to their data. One way to protect information is to restrict access to your computer's hard drive. This can be done by setting a password. Once installed, only you can open the hard drive. The advantage of this method is that you can also encode the disc into partitions.
Necessary
- - Computer;
- - Folder Guard program.
Instructions
Step 1
There is a lot of software on the network with which you can set different access restrictions. But in fact, there are not so many programs that actually work. One such program is called Folder Guard. Find this app on the internet and download. Unpack the archive to any folder. Install the application to your computer hard drive.
Step 2
Start Folder Guard. The first step is to make sure that only you can use this program. This can be done by setting a password for its use. To install it, follow these steps. In the main menu of the program, select File, and then in the additional menu - Master password. Two lines will appear. Enter the password on the top line, and confirm it on the bottom line. Click OK. Now, every time you start the program, you will have to enter this password. It may seem too inconvenient to someone, but no one except you will have access to the application.
Step 3
The program window contains a list of hard disk partitions. Click on the section you want to restrict access to with the left mouse button. Then select Protect at the top of the toolbar. After that, click on the Lock with password option. The password entry panel will appear. Accordingly, enter the password on the top line, and confirm it on the bottom line. Then click OK.
Step 4
In this way, if necessary, you can set a complete password on all partitions of your hard disk. When you close the hard drive partition, a dialog box will appear asking you to continue locking the disk. If you select "Yes", then in the current session in order to open this section, you will need to enter the password again. If you select "No", then until the end of the current session, access to the hard disk partition will be unlocked. But on the next session, it will be blocked.
