The latest versions of Windows operating systems have increased security levels. The built-in firewall does an excellent job. Unfortunately, the operation of this utility sometimes greatly interferes with the settings of some programs.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are using Windows XP, open the Start menu and select the Control Panel submenu. Now go to Security and open the Windows Firewall tab.
Step 2
Click on the "Turn Firewall On / Off" link and wait for the new dialog menu to start. Now put a check mark next to the "Disable" item and click the Ok button.
Step 3
There is a quicker way to get to the desired setting menu. Press the key combination "Start" (Win) and R. In the field that appears with the heading "Run" enter Firewall.cpl and press Enter. Click the General tab and select Shut Down.
Step 4
Click the Start button to open the desired menu in Windows Seven. Now enter shell: ControlPanelFolder in the search box at the bottom of the panel. In the menu that opens, select "Windows Firewall".
Step 5
Click on the "Turn Firewall On / Off" link. Click on the "Disable" item. Follow this procedure for all required network types.
Step 6
After completing the described actions, press the Ok button and go to the "Change notification settings" menu. Disable the system reminder to keep the firewall inactive.
Step 7
Sometimes it makes more sense to completely disable the system's standard firewall. Open Control Panel and select "Administrative Tools".
Step 8
Go to the general list of services available on this system. Find Windows Firewall. Right click on it and open properties.
Step 9
Go to the General tab and find the Startup Type field. Select the Disabled option. Save your changes. Reboot your computer.
