In a classic Microsoft Office Word document, the text is located strictly horizontally, from the left margin to the right, but sometimes it is necessary to arrange the document differently, changing not only the style or font, but also the direction of the text on the page. You will not be able to rotate the text typed in the usual way 90 degrees. However, there is another way to arrange the document according to your needs.

Instructions

Step 1

To select the direction of the text, you must first create a shape (shape) in which this text will be typed. Open the document, go to the "Insert" tab. In the "Text" section, click on the "Label" button. In the drop-down menu, select the item "Draw label". The cursor will change to a “” mark.

Step 2

Place the mouse cursor in the place where the upper left edge of the form will be located and, while holding down the left mouse button, outline the boundaries in which your text will be located. When the form is ready, double-click anywhere in the document to return to text entry mode.

Step 3

Enter text into the created shape or paste a fragment from the clipboard. When the cursor is in the form field, an additional tab "Working with inscriptions" becomes available - click on it with the left mouse button or on the "Format" tab located directly under the tab "Working with inscriptions".

Step 4

In the "Text" section, click on the "Text Direction" button - the text in the form will rotate 90 degrees clockwise. Subsequent button presses will rotate the text 180 degrees from the original position (or 90 degrees from the existing one). Arrange the text as you see fit.

Step 5

Remove the borders of the form. On the Label Tools tab, find the Label Styles section and click the Shape Outline button. In the drop-down menu select the command "No outline" - the boundaries of the form will become invisible. In the Arrange section, set the text to wrap around the shape as desired.

Step 6

The usual editing options remain available from the "Home" tab - set the appropriate style, font size, set the desired text alignment. To resize the shape, move the cursor over the circle or square icon on the shape frame and wait for the cursor to change to a double-headed arrow. Hold down the left mouse button and adjust the length and width of the shape.
