Connecting the spirit of computers is the simplest example of a miniature local area network. Difficulties can arise only if there is a need to provide both computers with Internet access.
Necessary
- network cable
- Wi-Fi adapters
Instructions
Step 1
The first thing you need to do is select the type of computers connection. The cheapest and easiest to set up option is a PC cable connection. If for some reason you cannot connect computers with a cable, then you need Wi-Fi adapters.
Step 2
Let's start with the easiest way. Purchase a network cable of the correct length. Connect both computers or laptop with it. To do this, each of them must have at least one free slot in the network card.
Step 3
First, set up the computer that is connected to the Internet. Open the Network and Sharing Center. Find the icon for the new local network. Click on it with the right mouse button and go to the item "Properties". Find the Internet Protocol version TCP / IPv4 and click the "Configure" button. Enter 192.168.0.1 in the IP Address field. The rest of the items can be left blank.
Step 4
Open your internet connection properties. Find the "Access" tab and click on it. Opposite the item "Allow access to the Internet for computers on the local network …" check the box. Specify the name of the network for which you want to allow Internet access.
Step 5
Go to the second computer. Open the network settings as described in the previous step. Fill in the "IP address" field with 192.168.0.2. Enter the address of the first computer in the Preferred DNS Server and Default Gateway fields.
Step 6
If you decide to create a wireless connection, then purchase two Wi-Fi adapters. It is best to use USB devices as they are easier to install. Connect one adapter to each computer. Install the required software.
Step 7
Open the "Manage wireless networks" item. Click the Add button and select Create Computer-to-Computer Connection. Click the "Next" button, enter the name and password for your network. Change the network settings as described in steps 3 and 4.
Step 8
Go to the second computer. Connect to the network you created. Configure the network as described in step five.
