There is never too much memory. This law is well known to all owners of a computer, because at one far from perfect moment the message "Not enough RAM" appears and you have to urgently decide what can be done in such a situation. The easiest way out is to increase the virtual memory of the computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "My Computer" item to determine the amount of RAM installed on the computer.
Step 2
Expand the Properties link and go to the General tab.
Step 3
Take note of the memory size data and return to the main Start menu to perform the operation to change the settings of the computer's virtual memory.
Step 4
Go to Control Panel and open the System link (for Windows XP).
Step 5
Select the "Advanced" tab of the application window that opens and click the "Options" button in the "Performance" section (for Windows XP).
Step 6
Click the Advanced tab of the new Performance Settings dialog box and click the Change button to edit your computer's virtual memory settings (for Windows XP).
Step 7
Select the System Choice Size value under Total paging file size on all drives to allow the operating system to self-manage the selected setting (for Windows XP).
Step 8
Specify Custom Size to limit the initial and maximum size of virtual memory. The recommended value is the previously saved value of the amount of physical RAM X 1, 5 or 2 (for Windows XP).
Step 9
Select No paging file if you have a lot of physical RAM and do not want to use virtual memory (for Windows XP).
Step 10
Call the context menu by right-clicking on the "My Computer" shortcut on the desktop and go to the "Properties" item to change the virtual memory settings in the Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems.

Select the Performance tab in the dialog box that appears and click the Virtual Memory button (for Windows Vista and Windows 7).

Click the Manual Virtual Memory Settings button and select the hard drive to use virtual memory (for Windows Vista and Windows 7).

Specify the desired parameters for using virtual memory and click OK to execute the command.

Confirm the application of the selected changes by clicking the OK button again and restart the computer.
