The main difference between Windows 8 and other Microsoft operating systems was the introduction of an independent Metro interface and an app store, with which you can download and install the necessary software.
Download Skype for Metro
Installing Skype in the Metro interface is also done through the Store app. To navigate to the program, click on the Windows icon in the lower left corner of the bottom Start menu bar. After switching to the tiled interface, select the "Store" item, which, when using the standard theme in the system, will be highlighted in green.
After going to the "Store" you will be shown an interface for selecting the desired programs. To search for Skype, click on the search bar in the upper right corner of the screen. Then start typing using the keyboard and press Enter. Select the appropriate application from the list of results obtained.
On the program page, you can familiarize yourself with its functionality, reviews, as well as alternative versions available in the Store. Click the "Install" button to install Skype in the system. If necessary, sign in to your Microsoft account, which you created when activating and registering the system or Microsoft Office.
You can also use your Windows Phone account to download programs from the store.
Installing Skype for Metro will be convenient for tablet users due to more convenient control buttons and a gesture-oriented interface.

Install Skype separately
You can install the program for video communication by downloading the application installer from the official Skype website. To do this, go to your Windows desktop and open the browser you are using to browse the Internet. Click Download to download the latest version of the application. Confirm the operation by clicking Download Skype for Windows. Wait until the download procedure of the program installer is completed. After the download is complete, run the resulting file and complete the installation following the instructions on the screen.
After the installation is complete, right-click on the Skype shortcut that was created during the installation process on the desktop. To pin Skype to Metro home screen? select the "Pin to Start" option. After that, the required shortcut to launch the program will be added to the tiled list.
