Necessary

  • - ATIFlash;
  • - USB storage;
  • - NVFlash Win.

Instructions

Step 1

Start by finding the correct firmware version. Manufacturers rarely post such files on official resources. To select the required firmware, use the links provided in the "Additional Sources" column. Be sure to make sure that the selected firmware is compatible with a specific video adapter model.

Step 2

Select the flasher program. For Radeon graphics cards use WinFlash and ATIFlash applications. The first utility works with Windows, and the second only in DOS mode. Create a bootable flash card. To do this, it is recommended to use the Grub4Dos utility, which allows you to manually set the multiboot parameters.

Step 3

Copy the firmware file and ATIFlash application files to the flash card. It is better to use this option, because flashing a video card in Windows, as a rule, does not lead to positive results.

Step 4

Run the program from the flash card after restarting the computer and selecting the desired mode for the ATIFlash utility. All further operations will be performed exclusively in the command console. It is highly recommended that you remove any extra video adapters if your PC has more than one such device.

Step 5

Enter the following commands in sequence:

atiflash.exe –i, where i is the video card number (0 or 1);

atiflash.exe -s - save the current BIOS version;

atiflash.exe -pa nameofbios.bin- video adapter firmware from the specified file. After completing the firmware upgrade procedure, restart your computer.

Step 6

When working with video cards from Nvidia, use the NVFlash Win utility. This program works in a Windows system environment. It is preferable to use a 32-bit version of the OS.

Step 7

Create a folder in the Document and Settings directory. Use only Latin letters when choosing a folder name. Copy the firmware file and all data from the NVFlash archive to this directory.

Step 8

Start the Windows Command Console. Type nvflash -b backup.rom to save the current firmware. Now enter nvflash -4 -5 -6 newbios.rom to start the flashing procedure. In this case, newbios.rom is the name of the firmware file. Reboot your computer.
