When creating a local network, it is important to correctly select and configure the operating parameters of all computers. This will allow you to get access to the necessary information without reducing the level of protection of personal data.
Instructions
Step 1
After connecting the next computer to the local network, start configuring the parameters of the used card. To do this, open the Network and Sharing Center. Click on the link "Changing adapter parameters".
Step 2
Open the properties of the network card that is connected to the switch or router. Highlight "Internet Protocol TCP / IP (v4)". Click the Properties button.
Step 3
Select the operating parameters of this network card. When setting up a LAN via a router, you can use the automatic IP acquisition function. This is far from always convenient, because after each reboot, this PC will receive a new address. Such a scheme makes it very difficult to quickly access network resources.
Step 4
Use a static IP address that is within the valid range. In the event that the computer being configured needs to access the Internet through a router, activate the function of automatically obtaining addresses of DNS servers.
Step 5
Start configuring the security of this computer. If your PC is not connected to the internet, just turn off your firewall. To do this, open the "System and Security" menu in the control panel. Select the "Windows Firewall" submenu, click on the "Turn on or off" link.
Step 6
Disable this system for home and workgroup. Leave the firewall active for connections to external resources. Create the required amount of network resources.
Step 7
To ensure an adequate level of security, create an additional account. It is best to use the Guest type. Be sure to set a password for the created account.
Step 8
When creating Shares, select Specific Users. Activate full access to the specified directories for the newly created account. This method will allow only those users who know the login and password to connect to open resources.
