Watching subtitles is necessary not only for people with possible hearing impairment, but also for many amateur film fans who need to see films in good quality and with an original soundtrack. Also, with the help of subtitles, you can improve your skills to understand a foreign speech, which is especially important for those who are studying another language. In addition, with the help of subtitles, you can comment on some moments in the film and explain difficult-to-understand terms.
Instructions
Step 1
There are two main types of subtitles, which differ in the form of storage: • Built-in subtitles, which are shown simultaneously with the main video track, since they are superimposed directly on it, and cannot be turned off.
• External subtitles, which are stored in a separate file with the extensions SRT, SUB, TXT, and can be turned on or off at the request of the user. To determine the presence of subtitles, look in the same folder with the movie for a file with the same name, but with different extensions indicated above. If there is such a file, you can specify it as a subtitle source in your player.
Step 2
In many players, the principles of turning on subtitles are the same and are implemented through the corresponding menu commands. For example, in order to watch subtitles in The KMPlayer, you need to connect an external subtitle file during movie playback. To do this, right-click anywhere on the screen and select "Subtitles" in the menu that opens. In the list of commands that opens, select "Open Subtitles" and use Windows Explorer to specify the location of the file with subtitles for the movie. If the subtitles do not appear, in the same menu select the command "Show / hide subtitles" by placing a check mark next to it.
Step 3
If you use the VLC player to watch movies and TV series, in order to watch subtitles go to the "Video" menu, select "Subtitles Track …" and the command "Load File …". Then also specify the location of the subtitles on your hard drive.
