Step 1
Windows has a built-in function for creating registry checkpoints. It usually runs every 10 days. It is this feature that allows you to restore it without numerous losses associated with the failure of certain programs. Start Recovery Console using your Windows boot disk.
Step 2
Insert the specified disc into the drive. Turn on your computer and hold down the F8 key. Set the startup priority to DVD-Rom and press Enter. When working with Windows XP, you must press the R key in the first dialog menu.

If you are using Vista or Seven, go to the System Restore menu. Now select "Command Prompt". Enter the command notepad in the console that appears and press the Enter key.
Step 4
After starting Notepad, press the Ctrl + O keys. Navigate to the partition on your hard drive where the operating system is installed. Open the Config folder located in the System32 directory.
Step 5
Find the system file in the specified folder, select it and press the F2 key. Rename the working file with the extension bad. Change the properties of the following files in the same way: software, sam and default. Go to the RegBack folder and copy the files of the same name from there. Paste them into the Config folder.
Step 6
Close the Recovery Console by entering the Exit command. Wait for your computer to restart. Log in to the operating system. Press the "Start" key and go to the control panel.

Perform a system restore using the available checkpoints. This will help you avoid errors related to fixes made to the Windows registry. Restart your computer again after successfully completing the system restore procedure.
